Paul joined the Alberta Law Foundation Board of Directors in 2019 as the non-Bencher appointment by the Law Society of Alberta. The Law Society renewed his appointment in February 2021, and Paul currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board as well as the Chair of the Governance Committee.

A Partner at the law firm of Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP in Calgary, Paul’s practice focuses on complex, high-stakes corporate and commercial litigation. He has appeared before trial and appellate courts in Alberta and British Columbia and the Supreme Court of Canada, and other tribunals, including the Alberta Securities Commission and the Law Society of Alberta.

In addition to his director position at the Foundation, Paul is an active volunteer serving as a director of the Calgary Marathon Society (Run Calgary) and Vertigo Theatre and previously served as a member of both the University of Alberta’s Senate and Board of Governors.

Paul also volunteers at the Calgary Kings Bench Court Assistance Program and as an instructor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law Trial Advocacy Course.

He is an avid runner and cyclist.

Paul holds a BComm and LLB, both from the University of Alberta and a BCL from the University of Oxford. He clerked at the Court of Appeal of Alberta.
