The Alberta Law Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Ron Sorokin, K.C. and Ken Warren, K.C. as directors of the Foundation effective January 13, 2026.
The Board advises that Byron Chan, Executive Director, and all staff have resigned their positions and have left the Foundation. To facilitate the ongoing operations and to provide stability to grantees, the Board of Directors has appointed Optimus SBR as administrator effective immediately.
Optimus SBR is Canada’s largest independent management consulting firm that focuses on strategy, operations, technology and execution. Optimus SBR has a dedicated stabilization team onsite managing the transition and the Foundation’s operations. No interruption is expected to be experienced by grant recipients.
The Alberta Law Foundation remains financially sound and will continue operations under its statutory mandate. In due time, the Board will conduct a search for a new Executive Director. The Board is confident that the Foundation will continue to advance access to justice for all Albertans.
