We are pleased to share the Alberta Law Foundation’s 2024–25 Annual Report.
This past year was one of both growth and challenge. The Foundation awarded 126 grants totaling $65.8 million – more than triple the value of the previous year. Through extensive outreach, we connected with communities across Alberta, welcomed 29 new grantees, and expanded support in underserved regions.
Highlights from the report include:
- A historic $26.8 million grant to the University of Calgary to establish the Centre for Transformation, advancing systemic change in family justice. The grant includes funding to support the Centre’s operations over the next five years, ensuring lasting impact as new approaches are developed and implemented.
- The launch of the Youth Legal Initiatives Fund, which awarded $5.9 million through 17 grants to support innovative programs addressing youth legal issues across Alberta.
- New investments in programs that empower Indigenous voices, address youth legal needs, and strengthen supports in rural communities.
- Continued commitment to fiscal responsibility, ensuring stability for the justice sector in a changing funding landscape.
At its core, our work is about advancing access and equity in Alberta’s justice system by listening to communities and supporting innovative, people-centred solutions.
We invite you to explore the full report to learn more about the impact of these initiatives across the province.
